Beyond the FieldA conversation with Joy Selig, '92.

By Oregon Stater Staff

In Episode 5 of Beyond the Field, host David Endres, ’82, chats with Oregon State gymnastics legend Joy Selig as she reflects on a career that left a lasting mark on Beaver history. From her early days discovering the sport to becoming a seven-time All-American and NCAA champion, Selig shares the dedication, pressure and mindset required to compete at the highest level.

She also opens up about the moments that defined her career, including competing in front of packed crowds at Gill Coliseum, finding “the zone” at nationals and the surreal experience of having a statue built in her honor. Along the way, Selig highlights the teammates, coaches and Beaver community that shaped her journey both on and off the mat.

This episode offers a candid look at the life of a student-athlete and the legacy of one of Oregon State’s all-time greats.
